Friends Forever

RockYou slideshow | View | Add Favorite

Hey everyone,

Here is a slideshow of Austin and his friend Kylie who came over for dinner and playdate with our friend Jennifer. They had a wonderful time playing. She is about a month and a half older then Austin.

Austin took a almost a three hour nap today. I knew he must not be feeling good. His nose has been running for days. Dr. Patel has him on Loratadine for Allergy relief, but it is still running. He had a low grade fever when he woke up. But was in a good mood. After Kylie and Jennifer left I took his temp again and it was 100.4. He went to bed fine without meds. We will see how he does through the night. I will take him temp in the morning. I think it is just teething. I see a tooth trying to come in.

I have been following another Neuroblastoma child's blog and she is not doing so well right now. I would like everyone to say a prayer for Christi. She is i a lot of pain. They are working on treatment for her "quality of life". That is very scary. Words you don't want to hear. She is a very stronge little girl who has been battling this disease for four yeas straight!!! She has a wonderful family behind her fighting.

Well I hope everyone has a good night. Pray for Christi's pain management and pray that Austin's fever is nothing but teething!!!

So far so good

Hey all,

Sorry for the late post. We went to see Dr. Patel today for our "normal" Friday appointment. He seemed pleased with the CT scan but said now we have to move and do the other scans. Next is the MIBG scan (the one he had a few days after admitted for transplant). His counts look good and Dr. Patel said soon we will move to once a month appointment. Can you believe it? Where not there yet but we are getting there.

Sorry for no picture today. We have been running around today. We had to pick up my car at Bluebonnet in New Braunfels and drop off the rental car. My brake lights were staying on so I had to get them to fix it.

Well Austin's favorite word now is "Dog". He loves to say it. His "dog" Gizmo is here tonight so mommy got him all cleaned up. Hair cut and bath. I even bought him a new collar which he was way over due for one. Now Gizmo is resting next to me as I type the blog.

We have a busy weekend filled with a birthday party and play time with cousins. I hope everyone has a good weekend. Thanks for all of the prayers and comments!!!

Hooray for Methodist Radiology!

We sailed through the CT scan today. I was so worried but about today but Methodist Radiology department has changed their routine. Instead of the radiologist pushing the nasty drug Nembutal that we don't like, they have a anesthesiologist there to give a nice drug called Precedex. His reaction was similar to the drug they gave him in radiation called Propofol. So he was no groggy all day. We basically had a normal day. He was just a little extra sleepy. He got up earlier then he usually does so I am sure that had some to do with it too. Nannie didn't feel well so we had our friend Jennifer accompany us. Sorry Jenn for having you up so early. We had to be there at 7:30 am and they were suppose to be taking him to the scan at 8:45 but the didn't access his port until 8:45. It was after 9 when they took him. But the scan was fast. He woke up crying but only think it was because a little girl was in there that wasn't very happy. He also wanted to stay asleep to finish his nap. He slept in the car and we stopped by Nannie's house to see her since she wasn't feeling good yesterday and we played with the dogs. We got home and after awhile I notice he kept putting his head down like he was tire. He did play very hard today. So I laid him down for a nap. After and hour and a half he woke up but was still tired, so I laid down with him. Well needless to say we didn't get up until a little after six! I guess we were tired. So Austin went to be a little late tonight but he didn't fight it too much. He is doing very well at putting himself to sleep in his own room now.

Well I know everyone's question is "when do you find out results?" I am pretty sure we will find out at Friday's appointment with Dr. Patel. I am very nervous to find out the outcome. I haven't been sleeping well. This to me is the scariest of all scans. To find out if the disease has come back or not. I do find myself always looking for bumps on him. I have even gotten bad as to where I find myself feeling for bumps on my niece. Oh well, rather be safe then sorry.

I will post Friday with the results. Remember you can leave comments at the end of this post. Just click on comments. Please pray that the scans come back clean!!! Talk to your Friday!!!

Do you see anything?????

Hey everyone,

Sorry for not posting sooner. We have been trying to live the "normal" life. What ever the heck that is. Today Amanda (my sister-in-law) and I took the kids to the Zoo to play at the Kids Tot area. The zoo has made this area for kids 5 and under. They had a blast. A place where a kid can be a kid. They can run around and play. It is nice too because it is air conditioned. Aww... cool air... We went to lunch and came back to the house for play time. We managed to get the kids in one vehicle. Yeah Amanda! You go girl! Three car seats in one car. Hey Jerry there is room in there for one more kid!! Hahaha! When we got home from lunch all the kids were sound asleep in the car. I went to go open the house up so we could take one kid in at a time. I went back out and Amanda had the car running again. She said she didn't want to wake then up. So instead we got back in the car and she ran to the store while I stayed in the car with the kids. One by one they woke up. LOL!! So the rest of the after noon we played!!!

Well everyone is going to be mad at me. I forgot to update everyone that Austin is having CT scans tomorrow. Sorry guys. I got caught up in our "normal" life. We have to be there at 7:30 am for scans at 8:45. Sedation again. This drug is the no fun drug. He wakes up VERY angry. I am going to take the camera to hope to take pics of him. Not sure if I will go in with him or not. A couple of times they had me go in with him and stay because it is a very quick scan. It takes longer to drug him and for him to come out of it. Well tomorrow should be fun. Haven't had to do all this medical stuff in awhile. Hope I remember how.

You now are able to leave comments to each blog entry (if I remember to set it to let you) So feel free to leave your comments. I am very curious to see who all reads my blog. I get wonderful emails from people I just wish I knew who they were. Will everyone please leave how you found Austin's website. I would love to know.

Well I will for sure update tomorrow. Austin is ready for me to give him a bath and put him in his bed. Have a good night.

This looks like a big dog

Hey Gang,

We are doing good. Austin's counts are stable and platelets look good. Everyday I find new dry spots. He has some on his cheeks and chin. Then today I found some on the back of his neck and a circle patch on his hand. At least we know it is working though. He has a runny nose but so do I. Could be a little cold or he could be teething. Not sure. Mine might be a cold.

This evening we went to Retma to watch horse racing. Austin loved it. He would sit there and clap and point at the horses. His favorite thing to watch though is the EMS following the horses around the track. We then went down and got closer to the horses. Austin got to pet his first horse. I think he thought it was just a big dog. Haha.

We go back to Dr. Patel's office on Friday for our usual blood count check. We should be discussing about it being time to do scans again. So we will see what he says.

Take care and have a good weekend.

P.J. Party!!!!!

Hey all,

We are doing good here. Not much going on. Austin is still taking his accutane very well. His face shows dry spots but other than that nothing else. We go to Dr. Patel's tomorrow.

Austin and I went to Round Rock today to visit his cousins. He had lots of fun. The picture is of him and his cousins Dylan and Emily in their P.J.s right before we left to come home. There are three pictures of them. One of all three of them sitting together, one of Emily screaming because Dylan scared Emily and then one of Austin and Dylan with the Uh-oh look on Austin's face.

We had lots of fun and love to go there and visit because Uncle Jerry makes GOOD hamburgers!!!! Thanks Uncle Jerry for cooking for us!

Well all for now. We will see what Dr. Patel says tomorrow.

This is just like bath water!!!

Hey all,

Sorry I haven't posted in awhile. I am still pretending to be on vacation! hehe! We had a good mini vacation in Rockport. Austin loved the beach. It was the same temp as his bath water. He has been taking his accutane very well. We go back to Dr. Patel's office Friday for blood count check. Other than his face has dry patches he really hasn't shown any side effects. There are some hidden side effects that Dr. Patel has to run test to find out so we will see on Friday. Other than that we haven't really been up to anything. Tomorrow we will go to Home Depot to get sand for the sand box. Cousin Dylan was kind enough to lend us his sand box to see if Austin likes it. He liked it at Willie's Grill with Westin and at the beach so he should. That is all for now. Maybe tomorrow I will have sand box pictures. Yeah!

Later,

The Wiggles Live!!!!

Hey All,

Austin went to his first live concert today. He saw the Wiggles. He just sat there and watched. He didn't move at all. We had a blast. We hope the come back next year. We want to get better seats next year. Austin's cousins Dylan and Emily, his Grandmama, Aunt Amanda and Nannie went with us as well.

Well we still have not started Accutane. We ran into some problems with his medical insurance. I have been battling them for days. I am very frustrated and if I don't have those drugs in my hand tomorrow someone is going to wish they never met me. We were suppose to start Accutane Monday night. Little did I know they never reinstated his Medicaid. So we are waiting on his emergency Medicaid card. They are suppose to call me to come pick it up. That was yesterday afternoon. Never heard from them. Wonder why they call it emergency Medicaid??? Can't figure that one out. So now we have to start all over. They told me that emergency Medicaid only has a few pharmacies on there to use. I am sure then they are going to have to order the drug like the last pharmacy. It is all a mess and it is giving me a headache!!!

Well I can't promise we will start Accutane tomorrow but I sure hope so!!! Please put some prayers out that we get this all straighten out and get Accutane tomorrow. He needs it bad!!!!!!!!

Chat with you later!!!
