Day two of radiation

Today was a long day for Austin. We didn't have radiation until 2pm, so we had to entertain him, to keep his mind off of food and milk, all day until it was time to go. Austin took a little bit of nap, not much, before we went. They took him back at 2:30. The ems ride is different. I feel so weird riding on the stretcher with him, but it keeps him from screaming. Austin was finished with radiation and they brought him to an isolated room where I was waiting. They have been so nice to us. My mom bought him a hamburger, eariler, to eat after radiation so I offered it to him. He only eats the bun. He ate all of it and still wanted more. He threw a fit when he found out there was no more bun. The nurses at CTRC were running around trying to find things for him to eat. He really wanted to walk around some so we put his mask back on and let him walk around, however he then started to fuss. The EMS was taking so long to come and pick us up. There was some sort of a delay. Finally after many of Austin's tantrums he finally grabbed his blanket and asked me to hold him. He was so tired. By then the EMS came and we were off back to the hospital. He never did take a nap. When we got back I allowed him play in the room since he wasn't hooked up to any cords. He played and played. The next thing I knew an hour had went by. They never came in to hook him up. I started to think they probably don't even know that we are back. LOL. Finally a nurse came in and said your back, how long have you been back. I told her an hour and she couldn't believe it so, yes, they didn't even know we were back. She hooked him back up and he wasn't very happy at all. All he wanted to do was play with his balloon that his Nannie bought him. Pop came by this evening to give us dinner. He had a meeting not to far from us so it was a nice treat to see him. Gave Daddy a break. Pop played with Austin and his balloon and seemed to have a good time. When it was time for Pop to leave he gave him a hug and blew him lots of kisses. Was so very sweet. He only ate a little bit of dinner tonight, but he did eat that bun kind of late. He is so tired that he is starting to go to sleep now. He is watching Charlie Brown (I say he looks like Charlie Brown). His eyes are so heavy I am sure he will be asleep soon.

We go to CTRC tomorrow for an 8:30 am appointment. Thank goodness it is in the morning. Well I will update tomorrow.

Elizabeth
