Typical Friday

We did indeed need platelets. They went from 32 to 22. His counts are still down. Waiting for them to go up to start the next round of chemo. Once his counts are up then he will be admitted in the hospital to start treatment. Patel said it will be some time next week. He was VERY happy about the bone marrow. He says the new cells are there and they look beautiful. When he got his CBC back he said,"I guess the new cells don't want to come out." What he means is he sees the new cells in the bone marrow but they are not showing up on his CBC so he feels they are hiding. His white count (ANC) is 500. Which means he is almost neutopenic (right under 500 ins neutopenic). Neutopenia is when you don't enough white blood cells to fight off infection. So there is a higher chance of him getting an infection. So once again he is on HIGH isolation. No new visitors, and if you have been sick OR if you have been around someone who has been sick you can not visit Austin or anyone who is around Austin. We need him well so we can move on to his next treatment. So yes we will stay indoors this weekend. He is still unable to go anywhere. We go back to Patel's Monday at 9:00 a.m. Hope everyone has a good weekend

Elizabeth
